Business Ethics magazine has published their annual list of the top 100 Corporate Citizens for 2006. This ranking of public companies celebrates companies that excel at serving a variety of stakeholders (note – not shareholders!) well.
Companies are ranked by Community, Corporate Governance, Diversity, Employee Relations, Environment , Human Rights, Product and Total Return.
Apple was ranked # 25 this year which is a better showing than previous years.
Two sustaining members of Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility where also on the list. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters took the # 1 slot and our bank – the Chittenden Corporation took #26 right behind Apple.
