3 Operating Systems On a MacBook

A couple days ago, TUAW posted this video of someone with not 1 or 2 but 3 operating systems running on their MacBook. Within the next week or so I’ll be doing the exact same thing on a MacBook. I’ll run Microsoft Windows XP Pro, Apple OS X Tiger and some form of Linux side-by-side at the same time. I’ll use Virtue desktop to easily be able to switch inbetween these 3 different operating systems, just as you see in the video I linked to above. Overall the process to this looks really easy and Parallels looks to be one of the greatest pieces of software made for the Mac. As I do this, I’ll continually update this post with my progress!

Currently Parallels is a free download, but it’s still in a testing phase. Even though it may still be in a RC state, it’s quite functional and I’ve heard nothing but good things about this piece of software.

Check out Parallels.

Update: Finally I’ve found some time to update this post. I’ve gone and installed Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux alongside my existing Mac OS X Tiger install with Parallels. If anyone read this weeks TechTails (Issue #318) I briefly wrote about this but I would like to talk about Parallels and running this all in more depth here.
