Extend your Spotlight Search with Spotlaser

Spotlaser is an easy to use shareware application that makes finding files on your really large hard drive easy!

The Spotlaser search bar at the top of the Spotlaser window provides the ability to perform a quick filename-only search, much like the way searches worked in previous versions (pre 10.4) of Mac OS X. This enables you to find that file without sorting through all the extra files that a normal Spotlight search would throw at you. Use the wildcard character * if you don’t know the exact name of the file you’re after.

There’s also the ability to search specific locations, by time frame, author, composer, content, metatags and much, much more.

What I like most about it is that it finds what I expect. I’m often surprised by files found using Searchlight as they don’t seem relative – Spotlaser seems more accurate, though not quite as fast.
