My Take on Microsoft's Zune Take 4

Today Microsoft revealed the Zune. It is a pretty cool looking and sounding device – it will give the iPod a slight run for the holiday money this year. You can read about it at PC World Magazine here:

Some of the more interesting features:
– 3” Screen – Built-in wi/fi for swapping music, photos and possibly more with other Zune users – Built in FM tuner – Music can be purchased track-by-track, like the iTunes Store, or via a subscription-based “Zune Pass.” – It’s available in brown

This is not the long-fabled iPod killer; it’s not quite that useful or cool. However, it is a stronger competitor for the iPod than most other digital audio players.

The only true iPod killer on the horizon is the rumored Apple -engineered iPod cell phone.

I’m glad the Zune is almost out. Competition is good!
