Anniversary of the Death of the Apple II

It was 13 years and one day ago that the Apple II was finally removed from Apple’s product line. The Apple II was the computer that made Apple, Inc. into a major player in the computer and electronics industry. It was introduced to great fanfare at the West Coast Computer Faire in 1977, and over the years more than 2 million Apple II’s in various configurations were sold.

It outsold the Macintosh line until 1991 – 1992. Wikipedia says “The Apple II remained the company’s primary revenue source for years: the Apple II and its associated community of third-party developers and retailers was once a billion-dollar-a-year industry.”
