There is no doubt that Steve Jobs is a master presenter – today at the keynote, he had the crowd on pins and needles, he had people laughing, and he had people on their feet clapping and cheering.
He made a large number of jokes – including prank calling a local Starbucks to order 4000 lattes, then saying “wrong number” and hanging up.
Most of all, Steve Jobs seemed deeply proud and happy to present the iPhone. He claims the iPhone is as revolutionary as the original Macintosh (not quite) or the original iPod (the iPhone is much more revolutionary). The iPhone really is an expression of the vision of expertly designed, user-friendly digital convergence. It’s going to be amazing.
He also appeared to get chocked up and quite emotional as he thanked the families of the team that worked on the iPhone, for bearing with a demanding design process.
It was great to witness Steve Jobs sincerity and excitement about this new product. Yes, he is a master speaker (other speakers have a lot to learn from him.) But he is also truly into what he is envisioning, producing, and selling. Really, that counts for everything.
