iPhone News Round-up

Yesterday and today Apple fed us some new information about the iPhone. Yesterday Apple posted a video on their website which went through the features of the iPhone and how to use them. The video is about 15-20 minutes long and is quite informative. While I did enjoy the video I would rather they just sell me the device already, rather then dangle it in front of my face touting all it’s cool features!

Today Apple posted up a page discussing the phone plans that could be purchased with the iPhone. The cheapest plan for a new user starts at $59.99/month and the most expensive is the $310.00 plan for families. They also offer plans for existing customers that start at $20 which is great.

The most important part of todays announcement is the fact that you can purchase your iPhone and just go home to activate it. This will surely get you in and out of the Apple Store faster. You won’t have to wait 20-30 minutes while an for them to activate your phone and get it setup. You can do it all from the comfort of your own home.

They also make the process of transferring your old mobile phone number to your iPhone easier then ever. It’s all done through iTunes.

As a current Cingular/AT&T user, I am excited to see how this is going to work. Something that I am wondering about is if anyone would be able to help you activate your phone right after you buy it (in store) or will you be required to go home and do it yourself through iTunes.
