Over 3 Billion Sold

Three Billion Songs Sold!
By Don@Smalldog.com

Sort of reminds me of the McDonald’s signs. I’m from Chicago and am old enough to remember the first McDonalds restaurant and the sign which measured the number of burgers sold was only in the thousands. Apple announced on Tuesday that more than three billion songs have been purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Store. iTunes features a catalog of over five million songs, 550 television shows and 500 movies. iTunes recently “surpassed Amazon and Target to become the third largest music retailer in the US,” says Apple. “We’d like to thank all of our customers who have contributed to this incredible milestone,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of iTunes.

This is an impressive accomplishment because Apple basically invented and mainstreamed digital music and has reached this milestone very very quickly!. I know I’ve done my part to help. I’m just about ready to sell my vinyl record collection and the CDs aren’t far behind. Digital music has changed the way we deal with music and has given me a lot more wall space!
