Skitch Preview

Since about April (6-7 months ago), I’ve been wanting to try out this new application called Skitch. Skitch is an application that lets you take screenshots of anything on your computer screen and easily share them via, web, iChat, email.

You can also manipulate and have fun with any photos you have in your iPhoto or Aperture libraries and send them off to friends. Skitch lists their top features as:

  • Snap a website
  • Capture a chat moment
  • Screenshot an application
  • iSight snap your bad hair day
  • Quickly sketch an idea
  • Tap into your iPhoto Library
  • Re-open images from your Skitch History

I find that it’s a very useful tool when I need to explain an issue I am having with an application or if I just find something interesting. Instead of having to type it out or verbally explain it, I can just take a screenshot, draw a red circle or create an arrow pointing to what I am trying to show off, and then email it to a friend. It’s so simple.

Currently Skitch is in a private beta, but should come out for anyone to use soon! Check out the Skitch page for more information and to sign up for a beta account!
