Import DVD Content with iTunes. Feature to be Unveiled Tomorrow?

What if adding DVD video content to your iTunes library was even easier than importing an audio CD?

This question has been notorious for raising arguments over Digital Rights Management (DRM) and copyright protection issues in the past. However, if things go as rumored tomorrow, January 15th, iTunes users may finally be able to rip DVD content legitimately into their media libraries.

As speculated in a recent article on tuaw, movie studios such as Fox may announce this feature at MacWorld tomorrow. It’s been rumored that Fox plans to include files on DVDs specifically for viewing on either an iPod or within iTunes. Although these files will undoubtedly be either bound to one’s iTunes account or protected in another manner to prevent file sharing, the actual importing process should be very simple.

If this speculated feature happens to surface, Apple stands to again revolutionize the way in which we both acquire and view our video content, as well as to further the functionality of Apple’s media products, such as the AppleTV.
