Iomega eGo 250GB Hard Drive Review

Within the past year, I have bought two LaCie Quadra hard drives totaling close to 800GBs. I never would have thought I’d fill them up in a few years, let alone one! To save my files when I travel and give me extra space, I have been thinking about getting a portable, bus-powered hard drive to bring along with me in my computer bag.

At Small Dog we recently started carrying Iomega hard drives, and I decided to try one out. I wanted to carry all of my media collection with me as well as having some extra storage. I chose the 250GB Iomega eGo portable hard drive. With a reasonable $129.99 price tag it’s a great overall portable hard drive. It has USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 connectivity that allow transfer rates up to 480 Mbits/s and includes a 8MB memory cache.

The compact design and sleek shape make it perfect for travel, without being too bulky. The bright color and chrome metal ends are slick as well as functional. In addition, Iomega added the new Drop Guard™ feature that provides extra durability against unintended drops!

Overall, I have been impressed with this hard drive and would recommend it to anyone looking for a portable hard drive with a lot of storage.
