FOR TECH TAILS E-mail Inbox Layout

I try to keep my mail as organized as possible – but sometimes I still can’t find what I am looking for. Generally the toughest e-mails for me to locate are those that have an attachment (Spotlight can’t find everything!). I remembered long ago I had a column that showed up in my Inbox that would show me the paperclip icon when I had an attachment – but I couldn’t figure out how to get it to show up!

Turns out it’s one of those quick and easy things! When you’re in your Inbox (or Sent Mail) click on “View” in the toolbar —-> Columns. Here you can choose what you want to see or don’t want to see in your mailbox. I personally have Attachments, Date Received, Flags and From selected in my inbox. It was nice because I actually removed some columns that make my inbox look less congested!

When you click on “View” in the toolbar, under “Columns” you might have seen “Sort By”. You can have your Inbox automatically sort by many different things. Obviously the most commonly used sort by option is “Date Received”, but for some folks it makes more sense to sort by “From” or “Subject”.
