Apple’s notorious Get A Mac campaign featuring Justin Long and John Hodgman has come to an end, reported Long last month.

The wildly successful ad campaign, introduced in 2006 alongside Apple’s new line of Intel-based machines, presumably aided in the massive boost of Mac sales seen from ’06 on. The campaign consisted of roughly 65 thirty-second ads in which Long and Hodgman played the characters of “Mac” and “PC.”

Noted for their simplicity and humor, the ads saw heavy syndication on both television networks and the web. The last ad aired in the Fall of ’09 and all archived ads previously viewable on Apple’s website have been taken down. The “Get A Mac” url now redirects to the new Why You’ll Love A Mac page.

This new page maintains a crisp and aesthetically-pleasing grid-like interface highlighting many of the Mac’s main features. Each rollover tile clicks through to a page offering a more detailed synopsis of the highlighted attribute. Characteristic traits such as design, ease of use, security, and award winning support are featured prominently on these pages.

While Apple continues to roll out new iPhone and iPad advertisements, no plans for continued Mac-centric ads have been announced. A compilation video showcasing the best moments of the “Get A Mac” campaign can be found here.
