iOS 4.2 in the Pipeline

Apple today launched an iOS 4.2-centric page for iPad, suggesting that the anticipated update’s release is imminent. Though an iPhone version of iOS 4 has been available for months, iOS 4.2 will give over 8 million iPad owners access to its features for the first time. This page highlights the main “tent pole” features of the update. While no official release date has been given, analysts expect the update to land in time for the weekend. In addition to iOS 4.2, Apple is rumored to have iTunes 10.1 and Mac OS X 10.6.5 slated for immediate release. Stay tuned, and we’ll be sure to let you know as these updates become available.

UPDATE: We’ve been alerted that the page in question has actually been posted for several months. Whoops! I guess all of my excitement surrounding iOS 4.2 clouded my fact checking.
