Over One Million Mac App Store Downloads in 24 Hours

The Mac App Store, which opened yesterday, had nothing short of a tremendous first day. Apple today announced that over one million apps have been downloaded from the store in its first 24 hours. It is likely that Apple’s established base of app savvy iOS device users contributed largely to the store’s success. As Mac apps are obtained and managed in a similar fashion to their iOS counterparts, the process is especially intuitive to those who have experience with the iOS App Store. Speaking on the store’s success, Steve Jobs offered the following:

“We’re amazed at the incredible response the Mac App Store is getting. Developers have done a great job bringing apps to the store and users are loving how easy and fun the Mac App Store is.”

The Mac App Store is a free download, and is part of the Mac OS X v10.6.6 software update. If you haven’t already updated your software, you may do so by running Software Update or visiting Apple’s download page here.
