Portal 2 Released

Valve today released Portal 2—the highly anticipated sequel to its successful first person puzzle game. The original game, released in 2007, immediately garnered a positive reception and devoted fanbase. Its unique fusion of first person action and physics based puzzles differentiated it from other shooters of the time, and left many players eager for more. Portal 2 fully delivers with nearly four years of graphical advancements, a longer story, and more robust character development.

Players take control of protagonist Chell who, assisted by the space altering Portal Gun, must once again navigate the now dilapidated Aperture Science Laboratories. Pitted against the ruthless and malicious GLaDOS computer system, players progress through a series of mind bending test chambers relying only on their wits and the unique properties of the Portal Gun.

A multi-platform release, Portal 2 is now available for Mac, PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Available in both physical and digital variants, the game can be purchased through Valve’s Steam for Mac platform for $49.99. Although the game is based on Valve’s aging Source engine, it is graphically demanding and requires a newer Intel based Mac. We recommend double checking your machine’s specs prior to purchase and install.

Mac Minimum System Requirements:

  • OS – Mac OS X v10.6.6 or later
  • Processor – Intel Core Duo processor (2.0 GHz or better)
  • RAM – 2 GB (or more)
  • Hard Drive Space – 7.6 GB hard disk space (or more)
  • Video Card – GeForce 8600M or ATI Radeon HD 2400 or higher
