So it’s stylin’ sure, but does it work? You betchya! The speakers in a Mac are nothing aurally spectacular due to size constraints, but add a Bass Jump and the tiny speakers come alive! What?! How!? Why!? The addition of a subwoofer allows the smaller speakers to better amplify the higher frequencies, while the Bass Jump amps up the lower ones. This setup eliminates the tin-like buzz that sometimes propagates from maxed out internal speakers.
Twelve South also gives you an amazing system preference pane that allows you to quickly adjust the crossover frequency as well as the subwoofer volume level. Mix and match the Bass Jump preferences and your iTunes equalizer in order to rock to a clean, stylish, awesome-sounding speaker system. While testing the Bass Jump on my 13” MacBook Pro, I listened to an array of music including reggae, electronic, pop and rock, where artists like Bob Marley, Pretty Lights, Phish, and many others filled the room with electrifying sound. Just to make sure my ears weren’t deceiving me, I turned off the Bass Jump and listen to it again, WHOA what a difference!!!
