"Steve Jobs: A Biography" Available Late November

Yesterday, Simon & Schuster announced the approximate publication date and released the cover image for “Steve Jobs: A Biography,” the forthcoming book written by Walter Isaacson. The authorized bio was originally scheduled for a March 2012 release but has been moved up several months. Isaacson, who has also written biographies of Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein, conducted hundreds of interviews on which the book is based—including over 40 with Jobs himself. According to the description of the book on Simon & Schuster’s website, Jobs “asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read [the book] before it was published.” Jobs is also reported to have urged Isaacson’s other interviewees—Jobs’ “family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues”—to be open and honest with Isaacson, which could make for a spirited and unflinching account of Jobs’ life.

“Steve Jobs: A Biography” will be available on or around Monday, November 21, 2011. I can imagine more than a few of us here at Small Dog will devour it over the long Thanksgiving weekend.
