Apple Releases Firmware Updates for iMac, Mac mini, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro

Apple has released firmware updates for early-2011 iMac and MacBook Pro models and mid-2011 Mac mini and MacBook Air models. The updates for MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini include fixes to improve stability of machines, and Apple recommends them for all users. Here is an overview of the update for each Mac:

iMac EFI Update 1.7
According to Apple “this update enables Lion Recovery from an Internet connection and includes fixes that resolve issues with Apple Thunderbolt Display compatibility and Thunderbolt Target Disk Mode performance on iMac (early 2011) models.”

iMac EFI Update 1.7 is available via Software Update or as a download from Apple’s Support Site.

Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.4
According to Apple “this update includes fixes delivered in Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.3 that enhance the stability of Lion Recovery from an Internet connection, and resolve issues with Apple Thunderbolt Display compatibility and Thunderbolt Target Disk Mode performance on Mac Mini (mid 2011) models.”

Mac mini EFI Firmware Update 1.4 is available via Software Update or as a download from Apple’s Support Site.

MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.2
According to Apple “this update includes fixes delivered in MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.1 that enhance the stability of Lion Recovery from an Internet connection, and resolve issues with Apple Thunderbolt Display compatibility and Thunderbolt Target Disk Mode performance on MacBook Air (mid 2011) models.”

MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.2 is available via Software Update or as a download from Apple’s Support Site.

Macbook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.3
According to Apple “this update includes improvements delivered in MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.2 that enables Lion Internet Recovery from an Internet connection, resolves issues with Apple Thunderbolt Display compatibility and Thunderbolt Target Disk Mode performance on MacBook Pro (early 2011) models.”

Macbook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.3 is available via Software Update or as a download from Apple’s Support Site.
