  • It is always important for us to remember that it is you, our loyal customers, who make Small Dog Electronics a success. We measure customer satisfaction using the Net Promoter Score and survey each transaction. These numbers are vital to our survival, so we pay a lot of attention to how we score in customer satisfaction.

Before Jennifer started here at Small Dog, she gave me a book called “Customer Satisfaction Is Worthless, Customer Loyalty Is Priceless.” While I think the author’s premise is not fully valid, I do believe that there is a difference between satisfaction and loyalty, and we at Small Dog Electronics are committed to building customers for life. This is because the life-cycle value of a loyal customer far exceeds the profit we may make on any single transaction. As long as we keep that in mind and focus on making customer loyalty our goal, I think we will find we have a lot of satisfied customers.

  • MAC TREAT #169: Accent or Exaggerate?

This week’s Mac Treat is a two-parter. “*A while back,*”:http://blog.smalldog.com/kibbles/kb738/ I wrote about how to type accent characters on your iOS device. Well, for those of you using Lion, the same steps you take on your iPhone (or the like) are now applicable.

*To produce an accent on your Mac using 10.7,* press and (briefly) hold the letter that needs the accent mark. Your accent character choices will then appear, and you can navigate to the one you need.

However, I must admit, it took me a little while to get used to this on my Mac. Why? Well, let’s just say that sometimes I can be a little dramatic in my correspondence…I mean, sometimes “noooooooooooooooo!” just gets the point across better than a simple “no.”

If you want to preserve your right to exaggeration, you can turn this feature off by doing the following:

    Open Terminal and type:
defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false

Then restart your computer. Your letter repetition will be reactivated for your melodramatic pleasure.
