Once again I want to send the very best wishes from the Small Dog Family to you and your family for a happy holiday!
Thank you for reading this issue of Kibbles & Bytes!
Your Kibbles & Bytes team,
Don, Kali & Stephanie
Thanks to Kibbles & Bytes reader Perry, who let me know that there’s another way to grab your iTunes account password:
He writes:
__”Go to Applications/Utilities and open Keychain; then type in iTunes in the search field and you will see if there is an iTunes account there (or not, if you don’t have one).
Click on it and you see the username. You then can click on Show Password and type in your Admin/User password and you will see the Password as well.”__
I’ve gotten some other interesting questions regarding this that I’m doing a little research on, so I’ll update you in a later issue!
Thanks for reading!
*SPORTS*
* MLB Baseball: YES, this is the year. Ron Santo, the most famous Cub’s third baseman, who passed away in 2010 would say that every year–well, actually he would shout it! So, once again, I predict that the Chicago Cubs will win the world series.
Wrong again 🙁 – The Cubs finished in the cellar but they have new management now.
* NBA Basketball: Celtics in seven in 2011
Wrong–congratulations Dallas.
* NHL Hockey: yawn…
yawn…
* NFL Football: Bears vs. Patriots in the Super Bowl. Bears win 30-21.
Argh–wrong.
Sports: 0 for 4
*WEATHER*

*POLITICS*
* There will be 11 Republicans with their hats in the ring for the Presidential nomination by year’s end.
I count 8 or 9.
* Gridlock will be the name of the game in Washington with fewer pieces of legislation passing than in 2010.
In SPADES.
* Barack Obama’s approval rating will improve by 10 points to be over 55% by the end of the year.
Nope–the payroll tax debacle is having a positive impact but the approval rating is below 50%.
* Vermont will pass the first in the nation Single Payer health care reform bill.
YES!
* US will be out of Iraq and begin to withdraw from Afghanistan.
Yes! Not nearly fast enough.
Politics: 3 for 4
*ECONOMY*
* Republicans will force a government shutdown which will cause a 500 point drop in the Dow.
To the brink but no shutdown.
* The overall economy will improve with unemployment dipping below 9%.
Yes, this has happened.
* Premium gasoline will reach $5/gallon at one point during the year.
Nope.
Economy: 1 for 3
*APPLE*
* Apple stock will hit $400/share and a 5 to 1 stock split will occur.
Yes on the $400, but no on the stock split.
* Apple will introduce a subscription-based media service streaming content from their gigantic server farm in N. Carolina.
Not yet.
* Apple will re-enter the server market by acquisition.
Nope–no sign of this.
* Apple will spend more than $25 Billion of their $63 Billion cash reserve on acquisitions.
Nope–they are more cautious.
* Apple will sell more than 17 million iPads.
Yes.
* Apple’s Mac App store will do $1 Billion in sales in the first year.
Yes.
Apple: 2.5 for 6
*SMALL DOG ELECTRONICS*
* Small Dog Electronics will open its 4th store.
Not yet.
* Small Dog will have over 67 employees.
Yes.
* Small Dog will be featured in at least one national publication.
No.
Small Dog Electronics: 1 for 3
*MISC.*
* There will be scientifically confirmed evidence of extra-terrestrial life.
No.
* The mysterious bird and fish deaths of early 2011 will have an explanation that does not involve fireworks or natural phenomena.
No.
Misc: 0 for 2
Not a stellar record on predictions this year–I’ll try to do better next time!

We’ve discussed Small Dog’s “*Charitable Giving Program*”:http://www.smalldog.com/charity quite a bit in “*past issues of Kibbles & Bytes,*”:http://blog.smalldog.com/kibbles and we’re excited to tell you about one more way you can make a donation to one of our pet charities in our online shopping cart.
When you make a purchase with Small Dog Electronics, you are automatically signed up for our “*Top Dog Club*”:http://www.smalldog.com/faq#top_dog (membership is open to all, and you can join by clicking “*here*”:https://checkout.smalldog.com/topdog/club/). Top Dog Club members earn “treats” for every dollar spent online. These treats can be redeemed for a wide variety of products on our website. They can also be used to make a donation to any of the charities Small Dog supports, which include Puppy Mill Rescue, Doctors Without Borders and the Vermont Food Bank.
Small Dog matches individual donations of up to $200 up to our set annual level of charitable giving. For more information, please visit “*Smalldog.com/charity.*”:http://www.smalldog.com/charity
Dear Friends,
Happy holidays to your family from our family! Best wishes for a joyous holiday, and while the desire for “peace on Earth and goodwill to men” is a sentiment that we should share every day of the year, it is a particularly important message this time of the year.
We are wrapping up a very successful holiday season with iPad leading the way for the second year in a row and the Small Dog team firing on all cylinders to make sure that you, our loyal customers, are served with a smile and expertise. There is a reason that we are an independent Apple Specialist. We strive to provide you with a customer experience, technical expertise and product selection that will make you a customer for life. We look at the life cycle value of a customer and know that the profit we may make on a single transaction pales in comparison to the value of a satisfied and loyal customer.
As is our tradition, I will review my annual predictions and see how I scored for 2011. I will prognosticate for 2012 in next week’s edition of Kibbles & Bytes!
I just wanted to extend a fond farewell to Stephanie Reich, one of our stellar Kibbles & Bytes contributors. She’s in the midst of writing her dissertation and is leaving us to buckle down and get ‘er done.
We will miss her contributions to the newsletter and the blog, and hope that she’ll occasionally check in (and perhaps freelance an article or two–just kidding, Steph. Maybe.).
Thank you, Stephanie, for your hard work and impeccable grammatical prowess! (Feel free to edit that sentence as needed…)
