Finally, some real news out of Cupertino: Apple announced that it will hold an event with an education theme next week. Slated to begin at 10AM ET/7AM PT on Thursday, January 19, the event already seems to be uniquely different than the ones we’ve seen and followed in years past.
We haven’t yet begun to speculate what might be announced, but the rumors have started swirling.
From Macworld:
“Given the New York City location, it also seems reasonable that publishing is in some way involved—perhaps an initiative for bringing textbooks to iOS devices? Will we finally see a version of iBooks for the Mac?”
From TechCrunch:
“Publishing? iBooks? Education? Is it just me, or does it seem like Apple is preparing to make some sort of educational push with digital textbooks?”
The invitation to the event is pictured to the right—an outline of Apple’s logo sketched within the NYC skyline. The event will be taking place at the Guggenheim Museum on Fifth Avenue, a first for Apple as far as I know.
Of course, since no one knows for sure what the event’s topics will be, we don’t know yet what that means for Small Dog. We’re excited to see what happens and will be following the keynote next Thursday and reporting back to you guys.
