Dear Friends,

Boo! The 14th Annual Small Dog Electronics Halloween costume contest is underway (at least until noon today, anyway)! In keeping with a tropical theme as I continue my tenure at the Key West Small Dog store, I dressed as a jellyfish and my partner, Hammerhead, well, he dressed as a Hammerhead shark.

You can check out all the costumes here.

This week saw Apple release their quarterly financial report and I will review that a bit later in this issue of Kibbles & Bytes. Today is also the release date for the new iPad Air. We received our initial stock in Key West this morning and as we were preparing to set up a demo, I unboxed one and started trying out various cases.

This new iPad is smaller and lighter than any before it and it just feels RIGHT in your hand. None of the previous cases — with the exception of our Hammerhead neoprene sleeves — fit the new iPad Air. We are designing some new cases to fit it and I expect that it will be a few more weeks before the other case manufacturers have their selections available.

I think this is going to be one of the most successful iPad launches ever, as there seems to be adequate inventory available, and judging by the number of customers coming in and asking for it on Thursday, I’m prepared for lines at the door! The iPad mini with Retina display will be released later this month, but the $299 iPad is available now. At that price point, I really think it is going to be this year’s hottest iPad.

I won’t bother talking about the weather (well OK, maybe a little bit), but back home in Vermont they tell me it is getting cold and there is a bit of snow. Down here it is the same every day: sun, sun and more sun.
