Hammerhead Takes Over: Introducing Sync-Charge Cables!

Hammerhead-cable

Hammerhead — not only a shark with an odd head, or a cute little bulldog that rides shotgun on Don’s motorcycle — but our very own Small Dog Electronics brand!

We’ve just released the Hammerhead Sync-Charge Cable. It’s a flat cable, slightly more durable than the Apple cord, and selling for $18.99.

They come in three color options: Red, Black, or White. The cable is the traditional length of 1-meter long, comparable to what you receive originally with your device.

Plug it right into your USB port, or pair it with Hammerhead’s very own 12w Dual USB Charger, and you have a complete wall charging set!

The Hammerhead Sync-Charge cable is compatible with iPhone 5/5c/5s, iPad mini (both with and without Retina Display), iPad 4, iPad Air, iPod touch (5th Gen.), and the iPod nano (7th Gen.).

  • Goodbye to One of Our Own

As you may have heard, we had to make the difficult decision to close our Manchester, NH location last month. After almost four years in the Mall of New Hampshire, it became a reality that the mall life was not for us. (Or, as we say, Small Dog is no Mall Dog…)

We opened that store in October 2010 with high expectations for the area, widely seen as a destination for Boston-area dwellers. We ultimately found that we couldn’t connect with our customers in the way that we wanted to (and were used to) in a mall setting, but we tried many different things to reach potential customers.

We want to thank our Manchester (and surrounding) customers for your support over the years — it has been a pleasure getting to know you, and we are keeping our options open for a return to the area in the future. Our Outside Sales rep, Dana Flint, has stayed on to work with businesses that need one of the many solutions that Small Dog can provide. For retail customers, we encourage you to shop (tax-free, as always) at “*Smalldog.com*”:http://www.smalldog.com or take a scenic drive up to “*one of our Vermont locations*”:http://www.smalldog.com/retail (or take a vacation to Key West, FL!).

  • Reviving an Old MacBook

    MacBook

Recently, Daniel Hollister from our Waitsfield retail store installed a Crucial SSD (Solid State Drive) into a late-2006 MacBook. This upgrade made a barely usable machine into a like-new machine!

Though it cannot run anything past OS X 10.7, it is as quick as a new MacBook Air. It starts up and is ready to go in 20 seconds.

Because the SSD has no moving parts, there is no waiting for the disk to spin up and programs load in just a few seconds without any beach balls appearing.

If you have an aging laptop and aren’t quite ready to buy a new one, having an SSD installed might be what you are looking for!

Daniel can’t stop talking about how fast his old MacBook is now that he’s installed this drive — proof that Macs can run well beyond their years!
