Waste Away No Longer: Bring Your eWaste to Us Anytime!

Chances are, you’ve heard of our eWaste Recycling Events and have probably participated in one or two. But did you know that we accept electronic waste in our stores every day? For free?

So, even though we haven’t yet scheduled another collection event, you can still safely get rid of those computer-related waste products that are cluttering up your life!

Any ewaste we collect gets broken down piece-by-piece here in the US, and many parts are examined to see if any can be reused for other devices.

Hard drives and anything that has sensitive data gets completely (and securely) destroyed, so you can rest assured that nothing will get into the wrong hands.

Read more about the process here.

So come on into any of our retail locations with your old Macs, PCs, printers, or even old chargers and know that it will be disposed of properly.

We are here to make your world just a little bit easier — as always, we are always by your side!

Beats by Dr. Dre has introduced their new lineup for 2014 and we are very excited that we’ll be offering the latest here in our stores.

    *Beats Studio Wireless headphones*
What’s in a name? The Studios — the headphones that made headphones cool — have a new look and have added a wireless version, among other new features. The new Studio series was released on June 1, and they’re already getting attention for their sleek new design and rechargeable batteries that are expected to give listeners 20 hours of audio bliss. The new design also makes the headphones lighter and, according to Beats, more comfortable. When the headphones are available, you’ll be able to pick up your pair for a mere $299.99.

    *Beats Solo 2 headphones*
The latest edition of the Beats Solo is the Solo 2 line — like its predecessor, Solo HD Drenched in Color, they feature a smaller size than the Studio line and high quality sound with clean, crisp bass, but with an all-new design, __better__ audio and more comfort, specifically in the ear cans. The Solo 2 line, released June 1 and in-stock, is available in White, Silver, Red, Pink, and Black, and retails for $199.99.

    *Beats Pill 2.0*
The new Beats Pill has the same capabilities of the Pill XL, but in mini form and with supercharged features. It has wireless capability with included Bluetooth, and you can even connect to another Pill with NFC (near field communication). It is extremely lightweight — even lighter than some of those portable mobile chargers — making it easier to carry around. Other features include a long battery life, and a 5-light LED battery fuel gauge to indicate how much charge is left. The Beats Pill 2.0 is available in Red, Black, White, Silver, and Blue and retails for $199.99.

There’s more to the Beats line that you can read “**on our blog,**”:http://blog.smalldog.com but we encourage you to come on in and see what’s new in person! For a limited time, we also have all previous Beats models on clearance while supplies last, so hurry!

  • WWDC: Monday 6/2

As we approach the next Apple announcement at WWDC, Apple analysts, tech speculators and fanboy (and girl) bloggers are circling the surfacing artifacts looking for clues. As you can imagine, everyone at Small Dog is always excited to see what is next from Apple, whether it’s new software or hardware.

The primary focus will most likely be the successor to Mavericks — OS X 10.10. In addition, we’re expecting a preview of iOS 8 with the introduction of the rumored “Healthbook” app. This, of course, fans the flames of the iWatch rumors, though popular opinion suggest we won’t be seeing Apple’s first smart watch for a little while longer.

If you’re looking for hardware announcements, you’re out of luck, as the “**WWDC’s live-streaming keynote**”:http://www.apple.com/apple-events/june-2014/ from Apple are traditionally focused on software. Last year, we were introduced to iOS 7 with radically-updated aesthetics and new security features.

As far fetched as it sounds, I would personally love to see Apple break into the home automation market. This would most likely be a software platform that existing home automation companies could attach themselves to and join an all new, unified, iOS-friendly system for the household.

“*Watch it here*”:http://www.apple.com/apple-events/june-2014/ and check in with us “*on Twitter @hellosmalldog*”:http://twitter.com/hellosmalldog as we live-tweet the keynote. Head over to “*our blog*”:http://blog.smalldog.com afterwards for the full recap!

  • The latest in Wireless Speakers with Sonos

It seems like there are almost countless speaker options today, ranging from portable Bluetooth speakers to high-powered premium speakers. It can be a little overwhelming to pick the right setup, but one fact seems to ring true for everyone: we want speakers that sound good and are easy to use. That’s why I am particularly excited about a new product line we are carrying at Small Dog: the wireless speaker system by **Sonos.**

Sonos utilizes a unique HiFi mesh networking technology to connect one or more speakers together wirelessly. Not only is Sonos convenient to use, but it sounds awesome! We’ve seen a lot of new Bluetooth and AirPlay speakers recently, but Sonos utilizes a different wireless technology.

The **Sonos Bridge** connects to your wireless router and creates a new wireless network for all of your Sonos speakers. Whether you have one speaker in the living room or ten speakers spread throughout the house, they can all unite to play the same music at the same time. Building your Sonos setup is easy; syncing your speakers to the bridge for the first time is as easy as pressing a button, and then they’re connected forever. This is a great solution for customers who don’t want the hassle of running wires all over their house.

One of my favorite features of the Sonos system is the app used to control your music. The “**Sonos Controller App**”:https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sonos-controller/id293523031?mt=8&uo=4&at=11lb7k&ct=kibbles, available for mobile devices and computers, lets you browse and play your music library right to your Sonos system. You can even access popular streaming services like Pandora and Spotify. Changing the music in another room is as easy as reaching into your pocket for your smartphone.

Sonos has a wide variety of wireless speakers and home theater components available to customize your perfect audio system. The **PLAY:1** is their smallest speaker, designed for portability while still providing crystal clear sound. The **PLAY:3** is the perfect size for the living room or backyard and can even be mounted. Lastly, the **PLAY:5** brings an impressively large sound that’s powerful enough to fill a large room; it’s also the only Sonos speaker with an audio line-in for connecting a wired device easily.

Note: Sonos has authorized us to sell these speakers in __our retail stores only,__ so come check out our in-store demo to see what Sonos is all about!
