Macworld Predictions, Waitsfield Edition

Macworld’s almost here, and we’re getting excited. Check out what we may think is happening next week:

Rob – New Mac Pros (announced this week instead!) – Increased capacity in iPhone and iPod touches – Touch screen iMac – Fast user switching for virtual machines/operating systems – Mac Mini/Apple TV combo device

Geoff – Updated Displays – Ultraportable MacBook – Updated iPhone (maybe with GPS) – Mac Mini/AppleTV – AAPL will fluctuate $8 during the keynote and will settle up $3
(honorable mention per last year’s prediction to fire Ed: hire him back??!) 🙂

Kali – iPhone update (16GB?) – Notebook with a touch screen – 17” MacBook Pros with LED technology – iPods with higher solid-state capacity – “One more thing…”

Jimmy – Slimmer Notebook – 16GB iPhone – Movie rentals in iTunes – iChat for iPhone – Steve will wear blue jeans and black turtleneck (just a guess…)

Ed – I would like to see new displays – this will be the 3rd MWSF in a row I’ve predicted new displays – An ultraportable MacBook would be awesome – upgraded Apple TV with a Blu-Ray Optical drive, 3 USB ports and 160GB capacity priced at $799

Matt – Superthin MacBook Pro 12” tablet with multi touch screen and solid-state hard drive. – Updated Cinema displays that are thinner, less expensive, feature iSight built-in, and are all glossy. – 1 terabyte iPods with built-in 1080p projector. – A modern DuoDock: essentially a docking station for laptops with large display and port replicator – 802.11n Airport Express

Jon – Steve Jobs steps down – Apple sells off its assets, gives profit to Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation – LED-backlit everything by end of the year – A wireless input device that uses pupil movement. – iPhone/Brain interface will control users’ movements with new GPS dongle.

Art – A new, lower cost consumer machine-an even better iMac if that’s even possible – Optical drives of most new Macs to support Blu-Ray media, in addition to legacy media – AppleTV update will include more RAM and an optical drive (which will likely read Blu-Ray) – A “sub-notebook” like the PowerBook 2400c but lighter and 100 times more powerful – Much more availability to Apple “endorsed” applications for the iPhone and Touch (there are already hacked ones out there!)

Daniel Hollister – Ultra-portable laptop with touch screen and flash memory – AppleTV with Blu-Ray – Displays with built-in iSight – A new Airport express – Something iPhone-y
