My Instant Macworld Mini-Review

Last week I read of dozens of comments from industry professionals about the absolute certainty of a new Mac mini at today’s MacWorld. I didn’t think it would happen – I should have made some bets. When everyone zigs, Apple zags.

The lack of introduction of a new Mac mini does not mean it won’t eventually be realized. Apple has moved to a new pattern of introducing product updates a week or more after major trade shows.

I was not surprised (and find it very amusing) that Apple STILL has not updated or reduced the price of its 20” and 30” Cinema displays. The 23” has sold out and no longer seems available.

iLife 09 and the new MacBook Pro were expected and very welcome introductions. I am very eager to try iMovie 09. The new stabilization / camera shake reduction feature of iMovie 09 should help polish my silly snowboard videos.

Finally, I personally thought Phil Schiller was awesome. Too bad Apple won’t be back at MacWorld – I’d like to see him present again. I thought he was funnier and much warmer than Steve. Steve is like your crusty old austere grandfather, while Phil is the uncle you sneak beers with behind the barn.
