2009 Free eWaste Collection Event – Quick Summary

I’m just back from Small Dog’s 2009 free ewaste collection event and I wanted to share some incredible stats. We were able to collect 150 tons of ewaste from 1700 cars in only five hours!

This goes on record as one of the largest one-day ewaste collection events in the US—and as far as we know, the largest privately-funded single-day ewaste event.

It was a fantastic experience. We’ll post some amazing photos and videos from the event shortly, as they are processed and come in.

A HUGE thank you to the awesome co-sponsors of this incredibly successful event. These companies dedicated a lot of money, time, and volunteers to keeping ewaste out of Vermont’s landfills. They also helped raise awareness about the important ewaste issue:

Ben & Jerry’s, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, SymQuest Technology and WeRecycle.

In addition: Seventh Generation, Chittenden Bank, Chroma Technology, Sugarbush, Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom, DriveSavers, Ingram Micro with Canon, HP, FileMaker, LaCie and Kingston, Deerfield Designs, CSWD, Bisbee’s Hardware, Hall Communications (106.7 WIZN, 99.9 the Buzz, 98.9 WOKO, KOOL 105) and Kingsbury Construction.
