Apple's Up-To-Date Program

The latest operating system for Mac, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, was released last Wednesday as a download-only update. If you haven’t upgraded yet, get it here for $19.99.

Can You Get It Free?
If you have purchased a new Mac between June 11, 2012 (when Mountain Lion was announced), and July 25, 2012 (when Mountain Lion was released), you may qualify for a free upgrade via Apple’s Up-To-Date Program.

If you have purchased a new Mac since its release (and it doesn’t have Mountain Lion installed), Apple is supporting these systems with the Up-To-Date Program as well. Most Macs have already been shipped prior to the announcement so they wouldn’t include the newest OS (though if you’ve custom-ordered a new Mac—built for you by Apple as a CTO—they will include 10.8).

If you qualify, just make sure you participate quickly, as they haven’t announced an end date.
