Widescreen Mail

I’ve been a fan of Apple Mail ever since I started using Mac OS X. It’s very easy to use and works with both POP3 and IMAP email accounts. It also supports smart folders, sorting email and has great Junk-Mail filtering.

Usually I have it set up so that my emails show in the top half in the window and when I click on one email it’ll display the content in the bottom half. That worked for me, but usually meant I had to sometimes scroll when I was reading longer emails, which again was fine. Now there is a “plug-in” for Mail which changes the layout! I do know this plug-in has been out since the beginning of June, but I’ve been so busy and I just got time to install it.

This plug-in puts the emails in the left side of the window and then it displays the email contents on the right side (see image above). I know it’s not much of a change but I just thought it was really cool someone programmed something up to get Mail to be able to do this. This sort of plug-in is great for people who have widescreen monitors and resolutions of 1280 or 1440 horizontal pixels. I am using it on my MacBook and it really works great.

The plug-in is called LetterBox and it’s available for free!
