Special Post for Small Dog Speaks Listeners

Some Fun Apple Facts:

  • Apple Computer, Inc. didn’t start in a garage—it started in Steve Jobs’ bedroom when he was living with his adopted parents in Los Altos, CA.
  • The first Apple computer, the Apple II, had a 1MHz processor (they are up to as fast as Dual 3.06GHz 6-Core CPU’s installed in the Mac Pro tower). What a long way processing power has come since 1977!
  • The iMac was introduced to consumers in 1998 and began shipping in August of that year, over 14 years ago now.
  • When Apple Computers were first distributed in Japan in the early 1980’s, refrigerated trucks were used to deliver the product because people thought they were perishable fruit. Apple’s name recognition has come a long way since then.

Some Fun Dog Facts:

  • Dogs have three pairs of eyelids. One called the nictitating membrane helps keep their eyes lubricated properly.
  • Ozzy Osborne once rescued his wife Sharon’s Pomeranian from a coyote by tackling and wrestling it until it released the little dog.
  • Typically, the shape of a dog’s face will dictate how long it may live. Dogs with sharp, pointed faces, like a wolf, may live longer than those with flat faces, such as a pug or boxer.
  • The Mongol ruler, Kubla Khan, owned 5000 Mastiffs, and revered the beasts as partners for hunting and in war.
  • At birth, Dalmatians are completely white. They do not become spotted for a few weeks.

Some Fun Weather Facts:

  • A light wind is called a “zephyr.”
  • The list of retired hurricane names include Allison, Floyd, Georges, Iris, Katrina, Keith, Lenny, and Michelle.

Here’s an encouraging 2012/2013 winter forecast (if you are an avid skier or person who plows driveways and parking lots)!
