When purchasing a computer you might consider purchasing AppleCare which is Apple’s extended service contract. Notice I did not call it an “extended warranty”. No, an extended warranty is one in which you have to fid a big box ay shipping to send it to a remote place where 6-8 weeks later you might get your computer fixed. Applecare is different. If you live near buy to Small Dog or any local Apple Reseller, All’s you have to do is drop it off and in less then a week your computer is back in your hands. And, with Small Dog you get the opportunity to talk with one of the Amazing Technical Assistants who are actually certified to help you any way possible. But, you might be thinking “AppleCare is expensive!”. Well at first it might seem that way. But let me put it into perspective for you
Bob purchased a New Intel iMac for $999 and Mary purchased the same. Bob decided to purchase the $149 AppleCare and Mary did not. AppleCare gave Bob and extra TWO years pf service on his iMac. Well, one year goes buy and all is well for both Mary and Bob, But going into the beginning of the second year, Some fluke hardware problem goes wrong with both iMacs. Now, unlike usual repairs with Macs, the repair is going to be too much for Mary. So, Mary bought the computer for $999 and got about 1.25 years about of it. That means that in the end the computer cost Mary $799 a year. Now, Bob gets the full three years out of his iMac. It is still running but she feels that she needs to update. So, Bob got his computer for $999 with $149 AppleCare. So, he had his for three years meaning bob only spent $382 a year on his iMac.
Now, this is not always the situation but it happens a lot. So, consider AppleCare for your new Mac, and remember that you can buy it anytime within your complimentary 1 year warranty.
