Display More Recent Items

I rarely use this feature but Ed does. He asked me this afternoon how if possible could you change the amount of Recent Items displayed. I rarely if ever turn down a challenge when trying to figure out how something works on OS X. After a quick Google search I came upon this website.

If you click on The OS X menu bar from the initial list of links at the top of this article and skim down 5 paragraphs you’ll see:

“The Recent Items submenu opens a list of recent documents and applications used by you. It can store 5, 10, or 15 of each category. If you would like to change the number of Recent Items saved, go to General under System Preferences.”

I believe that would apply to OS X Jaguar (10.2) but in Tiger you can accomplish this by opening System Preferences and choosing the Appearance icon. There is a section in this preference pane where you can adjust the amount of items that get show. You can show up to 50 items in each, but that would seem a bit to much for me!
