  • MacBook Pro: Best Laptop Winner

If you follow CNET at all, you may know they came out with their Best Laptops review in January, and both the Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display and the MacBook Air made the cut, not surprisingly.

The Retina was dubbed the “Best High-End Laptop” and the Air the “Best Ultra Thin 13-inch.” “**Check out**”:http://reviews.cnet.com/best-laptops/ the full review. What’s even cooler is that we are selling last year’s unopened Retina models (including the one featured in this review) at a great price.

Here’s your chance to get the best computer out there for __hundreds__ off — the MacBook Pro 15-inch Retina 2.3GHz i7 8GB/256GB (released 06/2012) – **$1,999.99.** The current model, MacBook Pro 15in Retina 2.4GHz i7 8GB/256GB (released 2/2013), is priced at $2,199.99!

  • Oh Dear, Mom Needs Help!

I was tasked with replacing my mother’s keyboard for her after she spilled a glass of wine on the one she had been using. Being the Apple fan that I am, without hesitation, I sent her a new Apple Keyboard with the numeric keypad.

After using it for about a week, my mother called again — she was not a huge fan of the new flush key design of the Apple keyboard (a feature I actually love). She found that she was often hitting multiple keys instead of just one and she was actually a little annoyed about how quiet the new keyboard was.

We have come a long way from the clickity-clack of the old typewriter, and in my mom’s eyes, a bit __too__ far. I started looking at different keyboards and trying to figure out which one would really fit her best. I ultimately decided to get her a Matias Tactile Pro keyboard. This keyboard is very similar to the original Apple Keyboard that came with my first eMac.

The keys are easily distinguishable and the entire keyboard is very sturdy. While the click of the keys is not nearly as loud as a manual typewriter, you definitely know when each key is hit. There are also three non-powered USB ports located directly on the keyboard, which are nice for peripherals and the flash drives she uses to swap photographs with my aunts and uncles.

Matias is a great company that stands behind their products and honors their warranties, which is especially important when spending $139.99 on a keyboard. Mom is extremely happy with the keyboard (the most important thing), and if all goes well, it should last her quite a long time. She has also agreed to keep the glasses of wine on a side table next to the computer desk in the future — a good tip for everyone!

You can find this popular keyboard in our retail stores and at “**Smalldog.com!**”:http://www.smalldog.com/product/71211/matias-tactile-pro-usb-keyboard-white?utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=BIS

  • It's Mud Season…Or Is It Still Winter?

Spring is here, and so is the mix of mud and snow that comes with it in the beautiful state of Vermont. As a horse owner, I find that it’s an exciting time. Because I don’t have access to an indoor arena, I don’t get to ride much in the winter and I know my time is coming soon! The horses’ winter coats are starting to shed and they are literally itching to get their winter blankets off.

However, just like us, they may also be confused this week — has mud season finally arrived or is it still winter? Since they have had their blankets on for most of the winter, I’m sure they’re excited for spring, too, and can’t wait for the days to come where they can roll in the mud and race around in green pastures once again!

Speaking of change, did you know that we have a trade-in program? If you’ve been thinking about updating, note that we offer trade-in pricing on many Apple devices and computers. You can even look up the value of your product on our website before you visit the store.
