Last week, I wrote about Googling (I love how that’s a verb now) the problem I had with the Illustrator icon. Well, I found the answer to my problem, as well as a few other nuggets of information–specifically a way to take a screenshot with the mouse included.

The tip comes from Anil at “Nixtechnica”:http://nixtechnica.blogspot.com, a fellow Mac enthusiast. Here’s how you do it:

* In Grab, open Preferences
* Select the mouse icon of your choice

That’s it! This can come in very handy when the mouse is an integral part of the equation.

However… I have yet to figure out a way to capture the mouse in a screenshot if it has a unique application icon (such as in Illustrator, when the mouse pointer turned into a pencil with a line through it. I was not able to capture the icon at all.)

I’ll do some more research on it and get back to you!

It’s not quite time to put the motorcycles away for the winter, but we’ve been doing a lot of chores. The strawberries have straw ready to cover them for the winter, the garden is roto-tilled and we’ve taken all the screen doors and windows down. Even though the weather is nice and warm this week, the patio furniture is stacked up in the shed, and we are burning wood on the these cold nights. I rode up to my old haunting grounds in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont last week and it was almost “stick season” up there.

The Apple notebook event has been confirmed for October 14th by invitations that have gone out to the press, and speculation is mounting as to what Apple might reveal. We will bring you all the details next week in Tech Tails and Kibbles & Bytes. The rumor sites are all abuzz with speculation and out-of-focus supposed spy shots. It is amazing that Apple can generate this much buzz over a product introduction. Can you name any other computer company that has this much anticipation or press coverage?

Everyone is giving me condolence calls and emails about the Cubs–yet again–choking in the playoffs. That’s two straight years in a row that they have been eliminated in the first round. As a long-time Cubs fan, I am used to that disappointment; however, I have some faith in my team as they were by no means a bottom-dweller and just “wait until next year!”

And speaking of Autumn, it’s my __daughter__ Autumn’s birthday today. Autumn is a foreign language teacher in the Burlington school district (aside from her full time job of caring for my three awesome grandkids). She is also a drummer in the Jeh Kulu dance and drum company. So here’s a shout out to Autumn Song!

This weekend is looking very promising for some spectacular motorcycle riding in the brilliant colors. I’ll have to interrupt that to watch the Cubbies who are struggling to stay alive in the first round of the playoffs. GO CUBS, GO!

I think we have fixed the bug in our HTML newsletter software that was causing some issues for some of our readers. I apologize, but as is typical in software development, we fixed one thing and that broke another.
