You say Origami, I say Newton

There were several UMPC aka Ultra Micro PC revealed at CeBIT the other day and I have to say that they look eerily similar to Apple’s 1993 Newton pictured here.

There are Newtons still in use. Our IT guy, Morgan, still uses one and there are web sites dedicated to the Newton.

Here’s what I have to say about the idea of UMPC. In order for something like this to take off, it has to be smaller, it has to be both my UMPC and cell phone and it has to do everything a laptop can do in the small footprint. And it has to be a lot cheaper than a laptop because I probably won’t replace a laptop so I’ll have both. One can be expensive, but the other one can’t.
