Apple & YouTube Announcements

Today Apple made some new announcements about AppleTV and the Apple iPhone. Just a few days ago they mentioned that the iPhone changed from a plastic screen to an optical screen and that the battery life was improved; 8 hours of talk time, 6 hours of Internet use, 7 hours of video playback or 24 hours of audio playback. Apple stock shot up ~$3.00!

Today Apple has updated the AppleTV to allow it to view YouTube videos. Over the last couple of weeks they’ve been hard at work re-encoding videos on YouTube to the H.264 format. Before the Apple’s ‘official way’ to watch YouTube on your AppleTV some people had created plugins which enabled YouTube content on your AppleTV.

The next announcement is that the iPhone will get the same YouTube treatment. A special client has been built into the phone and lets your view videos right from the phone!
