Twitter for iPhone

Since I’m a bit of a “Tweetaholic,” I initially found myself engulfed in the myriad of available Twitter clients, both paid and free, available in the App Store. Atebits’ Tweetie quickly became my favorite, and one of my most used-apps. With its slick design and bevy of useful Twitter-related options, I’ve often felt as if I’m using an Apple designed default app while scrolling through Tweetie’s gorgeous UI.

Apparently Twitter has taken note of Tweetie’s success, as the company acquired Atebits a few weeks ago. Tweetie has now been rereleased as“Twitter for iPhone” and is being offered for free instead of $2.99! Twitter has also announced an official “Twitter for iPad” app. While details on this forthcoming app are currently scarce, Twitter’s official iPad app will likely maintain the high level of polish apparent in the various iterations of Tweetie on iPhone. No word on the OS X version of Tweetie, but hopefully we can expect updates there as well.

For folks who have been hesitant about dropping $2.99 in the past, the shift to free will come as awesome news! Twitter for iPhone is available in the app store now, but no date for the iPad version has been announced. Hopefully it’ll hit sometime in the next few weeks. Ready those thumbs fellow tweeters, and be sure to follow @hellosmalldog for the latest tech news, deals, and more!
