Apple Confirms Jobs as WWDC Keynote Speaker

In a press release issued earlier this morning, Apple confirmed Steve Jobs will be the presenter at the company’s annual WWDC keynote next Monday the 6th. Though several less than credible sources had claimed this fact weeks ago, today marks Apple’s official acknowledgement of Jobs’ scheduled appearance.

In a strangely atypical fashion, Apple partially folded its hand in terms of specific products and software slated to be featured during the keynote. Against its characteristically vague nature, the company confirmed several highly anticipated software releases—including iCloud—will be unveiled at next week’s event. An excerpt from the press release reads:

At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software – Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch; and iCloud, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.

While all three of these items have been subject to heavy speculation and rumors as of late, they were only assumed to make appearances at this year’s conference until this morning. While no features or specifics have been announced, it is still fairly unusual for the company to publicly summarize main keynote points in advance. Even if the specifics of next Monday’s event have been spoiled, Apple will likely still wow both physical and virtual attendees with the advancements and features of its latest software and cloud service.
