Airmail for iPhone

As you may know, I have been using the Airmail mail client for some time and am a big fan of this alternative to Apple Mail. This week, Airmail released their email client for the iPhone and I made the switch and am very pleased with this new offering. Airmail for iPhone supports 3D Touch, fast document previewing, high quality PDF viewing and native integration with other apps.

It works with Gmail, Exchange, IMAP and POP accounts. It integrates well with the Apple Watch and has customizable swipes. On the bottom of the home screen it also allows you to choose to show messages that are unread, that have attachments, that are threads, that are only from today or are smart messages. It supports multiple accounts and signatures, aliases and has a powerful search engine. It integrates with many apps and can send appointments to your calendar, set up reminders, put stuff in your to-do list. It integrates with apps like Trello, that we use to track marketing projects.

It even has a snooze function which will let you hide a message for a set amount of time in your inbox. So, if you like to have an uncluttered inbox you can set messages to re-appear later when you are ready to deal with them.

Airmail for iPhone is available from the “App Store”:link:https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/airmail-your-mail-with-you/id993160329?ls=1&mt=8 for $4.99 at this

  • _Dear Friends,_

New data from Piper Jaffray’s teen survey show that Apple is dominating that market at least as far as mobile devices are concerned. They have 71% of the teen market for smart watches and almost 70% for iPhones and 64% for iPad. Another survey has Apple Mac sales showing positive growth while literally the entire PC market is in decline.

I have been playing around with Amazon’s Echo and I have to say that I like it a lot. I wake up each morning and say “Alexa, what’s new?” and I get the news reports from NPR, CNN, Huffington Post and BBC as well as ESPN Sports and the local weather report. During the day, I ask Alexa to “play the blues” or “play some classical music” and while the speaker is not as good as my Sonos system it does fill the room. I can be around the corner or across the room and the Echo can hear me. Apple needs to step it up a bit and get Siri on the Mac or even better yet, integrated into their networking gear. I would love to be able to tell my Sonos app to play my music from my iTunes library!

Speaking of networking here’s a Kibbles & Bytes exclusive! This isn’t for everyone but if you have a big house and your Wi-Fi signal isn’t reaching that far corner of the house this could solve three problems for you! I am bundling the Apple Factory Refurbished 3TB Time Capsule with an Apple Factory Refurbished Airport Express. Both have the same 1-year Apple warranty as new but you can save some bucks. The 3TB Time Capsule gives you the Airport Extreme wireless access point and automatic wireless back-ups to the integrated 3 terabyte drive. The Airport Express allows you to extend that wireless network. Normally “**this bundle**”:http://www.smalldog.com/wag900002195/extend-your-network-and-back-up-your-data-for-only-325-99? is around $500 new, but this week for Kibbles & Bytes readers, while supplies last you can buy this refurbished bundle for only “**$325.99!**”:http://www.smalldog.com/wag900002195/extend-your-network-and-back-up-your-data-for-only-325-99?

  • _Hello Friends_,

It is hard to believe that it is February already. There is almost no snow up in Vermont and Artie is reporting that farmers are already gathering sap from the maple trees to make syrup. The Iowa caucuses have come and gone and on Tuesday the first in the nation primary is next door in New Hampshire. Being a leap year my granddaughter, Gracie, will have her 4th real birthday on the 29th. She was recently chosen as guest composer on Vermont Public Radio. You can hear her interview and one of her “**compositions**”:http://digital.vpr.net/post/student-composer-showcase-gracie-bangoura#stream/0 online.

February is also Black History month and each week in Kibbles and on our “**blog**”:http://blog.smalldog.com we will be honoring Black History. It is fun researching and writing these little bios of Black American heroes and heroines.

Florida’s governor declared a state of emergency in four counties regarding the horrible tragedy unfolding in Brazil with the Zika virus. One thing that is not being widely reported is the apparent link to genetically modified mosquitos and the microcephaly disaster. Apparently, Brazil was the site of a massive experiment with genetically modified mosquitos that were released into the wild. They were proposing a similar release for here in the Florida Keys but it has not happened. The Zika virus has been around since 1947 and this is the first big outbreak of microcephaly. You can “**read more about it,**”:http://www.theecologist.org/News/news_analysis/2987024/pandoras_box_how_gm_mosquitos_could_have_caused_brazils_microcephaly_diasaster.html regardless of whether that analysis is true, I think releasing genetic mosquitos is a bad idea.

I am happy to announce that Small Dog Electronics will be offering GoPro cameras and accessories in our stores this month. We have had lots of requests for these action cameras from our customers and we finally have secured the line for our stores. We will talk more about GoPro as we get them into stock.
