BlueAnt Mini Wireless

No, not some new invasive species, but rather some really cool wireless headphones! BlueAnt audio is one of our newest headphone lines that we have begun to carry here at Small Dog. The Pump Mini Wireless HD Audio Sports Buds have become my latest must have! These are lightweight, hold a great charge and come in several colors.

When I first saw these headphones I was a little skeptical. I actually hadn’t ventured into wireless earbuds before trying these headphones and had heard customer complaints in the stores about different varieties over the last year or so. The biggest issue that I had heard was comfort and how well they stayed in your ears, so I had no idea what I about to experience! I charged up the headphones and tested them out on some morning runs before work and was very pleased with them. I easily connected the headphones to my iPhone and enjoyed great sound out of them. They were comfortable and stayed in my ears easily. I was even able to take phone calls with them and those I was talking to could easily hear me. I also connected them to my Apple Watch and as you might guess, preferred this over carrying my iPhone with me.

I’ve begun using these earbuds in the office as well with my MacBook Air. I unfortunately have to wear glasses, so I find that many over the ear headphones (and I’ve used countless ones!) inevitably give me a headache from the pressure the headphones put on my glasses behind my ears. Contacts aren’t an option for me so I have found these headphones have begun to serve a truly universal role!

It is not that I have a problem paying taxes, especially when I see my tax dollars doing things for the public good but it always alarms me to see how much I am paying for unnecessary wars and an ineffective congress. Grace stays far away as I work on the taxes as I grumble and fret.

It looks like it might be a rainy weekend here in Key West so I can work on that and do some much-needed motorcycle maintenance. I can’t wait to get my hands on one of the new iPad Pros to compare with its big brother. I don’t know if it will turn around the decline in Apple’s iPad sales but it does represent a new powerful digital tool.

  • Get yourself some Dux

What is a Dux you ask? Dux is a really great product line from STM and one that we are really excited to begin carrying here at Small Dog. This product line up has cases for your iPad and your computer and for the last week or so I have been testing out the Dux case for Macbook Air.

My first impression is that it gives my computer a sharp new look. I feel as though my computer is highlighted more in this case. It features a primarily clear case and then a border that comes in an assortment of colors. The one I am using is black and it really looks sharp and sleek on the computer.

I will be the first to admit that I am not a huge fan of hardshell cases for computers. They do add weight to your computer and they can be hard to put on and take off. However, this case did stand out to me as soon as I saw it and I immediately asked for a sample so that I could test it out. It’s the reinforced border that caught my eye. The plastic is slightly different from that of the clear case and really gives you a feeling of protection for your computer.

Customers ask me all the time why someone might want a hard shell case, it’s a combination of accessorizing and protection. Hard shell cases are great for those who might like to sticker their computers. You can sticker all you want on a removable case and not damage your computer. For people who bring their computers everywhere it’s a great way to protect them from the dings and scratches that can happen just by pulling your computer in and out, especially those whom might fly a lot. One piece of advice I will give users of hardshell cases is that you still need to remove them! The idea and concept of hard shell cases is to provide added protection to your computer, to keep it looking like new under the case. However, if you don’t remove the case from time to time and clean the case and computer from dust and debris your computer will still get scratches. I have seen countless computers get just as scratched up with these kinds of cases than those without and the cause is always the same: dirt build up. This particular case comes on and off much easier than some others on the market making my recommended occasional cleanings much easier to perform. After all you’ve probably purchased a hard shell case to keep your computer looking new.

Overall I am very happy with this case, but the biggest test is yet to come. I am flying to Arizona next week for an event with one of our vendors, and I’ll be keeping this case on my computer for my travels. The real test will be if I notice the added weight while making my way through airports, so far I haven’t really noticed the increased weight in my daily travels.

P.S. Hadley, even if it means burpees and laps in an airport terminal I plan to maintain my lead in our competition. It’s ON!

  • _Hello Friends_,

It is hard to believe that it is February already. There is almost no snow up in Vermont and Artie is reporting that farmers are already gathering sap from the maple trees to make syrup. The Iowa caucuses have come and gone and on Tuesday the first in the nation primary is next door in New Hampshire. Being a leap year my granddaughter, Gracie, will have her 4th real birthday on the 29th. She was recently chosen as guest composer on Vermont Public Radio. You can hear her interview and one of her “**compositions**”:http://digital.vpr.net/post/student-composer-showcase-gracie-bangoura#stream/0 online.

February is also Black History month and each week in Kibbles and on our “**blog**”:http://blog.smalldog.com we will be honoring Black History. It is fun researching and writing these little bios of Black American heroes and heroines.

Florida’s governor declared a state of emergency in four counties regarding the horrible tragedy unfolding in Brazil with the Zika virus. One thing that is not being widely reported is the apparent link to genetically modified mosquitos and the microcephaly disaster. Apparently, Brazil was the site of a massive experiment with genetically modified mosquitos that were released into the wild. They were proposing a similar release for here in the Florida Keys but it has not happened. The Zika virus has been around since 1947 and this is the first big outbreak of microcephaly. You can “**read more about it,**”:http://www.theecologist.org/News/news_analysis/2987024/pandoras_box_how_gm_mosquitos_could_have_caused_brazils_microcephaly_diasaster.html regardless of whether that analysis is true, I think releasing genetic mosquitos is a bad idea.

I am happy to announce that Small Dog Electronics will be offering GoPro cameras and accessories in our stores this month. We have had lots of requests for these action cameras from our customers and we finally have secured the line for our stores. We will talk more about GoPro as we get them into stock.
