Dear Friends,

Vermont is back in the freezer as April becomes the most frustrating month for the Green Mountains. The days are longer, there is sun but it is too early to work in the garden. The roads are muddy and while the black flies haven’t awoken yet, it is hard to stay in the house but challenging to go outside.

The iPad Pro 9.7-inch model has arrived at our stores and the initial sales have been strong. While this new iPad, at first glance, looks like the old iPad, once people start using it, playing with the Apple Pencil and realizing the advancements of this latest iPad they are hooked. Size-wise, I think that it might be ideal. The iPad Pro 12-inch model is, well it is big. The iPad mini is good for reading or checking your email abut the 9.7-inch iPad Pro is just right.

I am very pleased to introduce the latest member of the Small Dog Team, Amy Farnsworth, who joins us as our Marketing and Design manager. Amy has strong marketing and graphic design background from her work in Utah and has recently relocated to Vermont with her husband. She says “I am a graphic designer, daydreamer, dog lover, wife, sister, best friend, Netflix junky & secret dad joke lover.” I think she will fit in fine! Please join me in welcoming Amy!

  • Grace has tired of riding the little Vespa scooter so we are selling it. I bought an almost antique Victory cruiser so we both have bikes down here. I am going to Jasper, GA to pick it up this weekend and riding it back through the back roads of Georgia. It should be a nice little break.

I am going to miss Johnny Dread and the reggae show down here but I am sure Grace will be there. It is hard to believe that we are heading into March already. My granddaughter, Gracie, is a Feb 29 baby so she is celebrating her 4th birthday as a 12-year old. My other granddaughter, Khadija, was off this week visiting colleges in the Boston area. Sure makes me feel old. I remember announcing Khadija’s birth here in Kibbles with the line “just call me gramps” and they still do!

Thank you for reading this issue of Kibbles & Bytes!

  • _Dear Friends_,

I am in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show and it is bigger than ever. My Apple watch is happy with all the walking I am doing but my feet are not feeling the love. The show is a great way to see what is on the horizon and of course, I had meetings interspersed with walking the show floor. Naturally, the meetings were far apart so I spent a lot of time walking or on buses or cabs.

This show is pretty different from previous years but still is window to future products. See my short report below and I will follow up next week in Kibbles with a more in-depth look. This week’s kibbles exclusive special is a “refurbished 13-inch MacBook Air with a 512GB hard drive bundled with Applecare and a 2TB Time Capsule for $1759.99”:http://www.smalldog.com/wag900002113/special-save-150-on-refurbished-mac-bundle-and-keep-it-safe The MacBook Air is one of my most favorite laptops and this refurbished bundle is a great way to upgrade your mac and ensure your data is secure for the new year!

  • _Dear Friends_,

It was a long trip up to Daytona using the “avoid highways, avoid tolls” feature of Google Maps. I was using my Blue Ant Pump Lite Bluetooth earbuds connected to my iPhone in my pocket. I not only got the turn-by-turn directions from Google Maps but also some great tunes from my playlists. I even was able to take a phone call, although I pulled over both for safety reasons and so I could hear better. We travelled through Florida’s farm belt, orange groves (hey, their trees are full of oranges!) and Lake Okeechobee before we headed towards the coast.

It is official, Apple has sent out notices for the special “Let Us Loop You In” event on Monday. It is expected to see some new iPhones and iPads and perhaps other announcements. For those of you with a 4th Generation AppleTV there is a new app called “Apple Events” that you can download for free to watch the event which starts at 10AM Pacific time. The live stream will also be available on Macs and iOS devices through Apple’s event website. iOS 7 or OS X 10.8.5 with Safari 6.0.5 or later is required. We are excited to hear about the latest from Apple!
